Surgical Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that involves repositioning of the gingiva and possibly bone in order to establish a healthy level of periodontium related to the cementoenamel junction or any restorative margin. It is classified into two categories: functional and esthetic. In this Chapter, we review the crown lengthening preoperative evaluation, surgical approach, and factors which may affect the result.
