General Anesthesia for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
摘要
General anesthesia is an important aspect of any major surgical procedure. Surgery involving the oral and para-oral regions presents a unique challenge where both the surgeon and the anesthesiologist need to share the working area. Basic knowledge of the steps and agents used during the procedure is a prerequisite for an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The chapter outlines the basic concepts of general anesthesia, the importance of preanaesthetic assessment, and various drugs used for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia. Various intubation techniques used in oral and maxillofacial surgeries are described in detail.
