Classification System of Gingival Recession Around Natural Teeth and Dental Implants
摘要
Gingival recession around natural teeth and implants is one of the most common concerns associated with periodontal health and esthetics (Fageeh et al., Med Kaunas Lith 60:205, 2024; Guttiganur et al., Indian J Dent Res 29:233–237, 2018; Thoma et al., Periodontol 2000 88:116, 2022). Multiple factors are involved in the etiology of a gingival recession; therefore, each case must be evaluated comprehensively and treated accordingly. The classification of gingival recession is essential in the diagnosis, developing prognosis, and treatment planning. Soft tissue around either a natural tooth or an implant plays a significant role in maintaining health, esthetic, and function. Thus, the proper assessment of quantity and quality of the soft tissue may reduce future esthetic and functional complications. In this chapter we review the most critical aspects of classification of gingival recession around natural teeth and implants.
