Perioperative assessment and review of systems is one of the most crucial aspects of any dental and medical procedure. There are numerous systemic factors and underlying conditions that could jeopardize the successful result of bone grafting or any other dental and surgical procedures. Obtaining a comprehensive medical history constitutes the first step in managing a patient candidate for bone grafting. Therefore, in this chapter, we intend to review the critical systems that need to be assessed and the possible alterations in the treatment plan that need to be undertaken to reach a successful bone grafting procedure.
