Integration of Global Surgery Principles in Maxillofacial Practice

Global health relies on maxillofacial surgery for congenital abnormalities, injuries, malignancies, and chronic disorders. Technology has improved therapy, yet high-income and low-to-middle-income countries still lack access. To overcome these limits, service availability, staff development, healthcare financing, data administration, infrastructure, and fundamental surgical services must be addressed. Radiographic imaging, orthognathic surgery, 3D printing, endoscopy, regenerative medicine, gene editing, and nanotechnology have improved. Providing equitable access to these advances is hard. Maxillofacial surgery education must be equitable to reduce global health disparities. Quality surgical training is needed, yet urban-centric institutions disregard rural locations. International standards and benchmarks arrange training to avoid differences. Interdisciplinary maxillofacial surgery uses a lot of different skills to treat difficult diseases of the face. This collaborative approach improves patient outcomes using knowledge, communication, minimizing mistakes, and care pathway optimization.
