摘要

Periodontal diseases, also referred to as periodontal infections, manifest in the forms of gingivitis and periodontitis, each categorized based on distinct characteristics. Their primary etiological factor is the accumulation of dental plaque in both supragingival and subgingival areas. Potential complications encompass attachment loss, tooth loss, and bone destruction. Treatment strategies for periodontal disease vary depending on its severity, with options spanning nonsurgical and surgical approaches. Nonsurgical treatment primarily revolves around the removal of biofilm in both subgingival and supragingival regions. Surgical interventions encompass resective periodontal surgery, periodontal regeneration surgery, and mucogingival surgery.
