The orbits are an anatomically complex region for surgeons, housing many important structures with specialized functions. Most orbital reconstructions are secondary to trauma, pathologyOrbital pathology, or congenital defects. Reconstructions are generally performed with autografts, stock implants, or custom implants, which can be made from a variety of materials. Virtual surgical planning, and intraoperative navigation and 3D imaging have revolutionized orbital surgery by increasing the speed and accuracy of orbital reconstructions; however, this technology is not universally available and cost prohibitive. Regardless of the reconstruction complexity and available technology, the principles of using the least invasive approach, proper anatomical reduction, recreation of baseline anatomical contour and function, and stable fixation should be utilized in all cases.
