Dimple Creation Surgery
摘要
The creation of chin and cheek dimples is one of the cosmetic aspects of plastic surgery. The smile, which is considered a sign of attractiveness and beauty, can be seen to be accentuated by dimples. The basic approach in the majority of dimple creation techniques is to connect the buccinator muscles to the skin dermis. The position of the dimple is anatomically determined by the intersection of two lines: a horizontal line drawn from the highest point of the cupid’s arch along the angle of the mouth and a vertical line drawn from the outer canthus. They are divided into three groups based on the face shape: in front of the mouth (para-angular), below the angle of the mouth (lower para-angular), and above the angle of the mouth (upper para-angular). Lower para-angle dimples are the most prevalent type of dimple. While there are several dimpleplasties, they are all based on the same two fundamental ideas: either incising the soft tissue, employing a suture technique, or both. The mucosa can be incised, and a portion of the buccinator muscle can be removed, using one of three major techniques: The objectives of this chapter are to evaluate the available research in this area and to present a unique approach for dimple creation surgery.
