Zygomatic Implants

Oral rehabilitation with zygomatic implants (ZI) has undergone a great evolution since its appearance. In the following work, we want to offer an overview of the refinement in oral rehabilitation treatments with ZI. We present the current state of the art of this surgical technique based on classical and contemporary literature and we place special emphasis on the changes in position in the emergence of the ZI and how this has influenced its macro- and microdesign. Likewise, we delve into the emergence of new technologies in this area and how they have influenced both the diagnosis and planning of clinical cases, as well as the creation of three-dimensional printing devices that provide safety, precision and speed to the procedure. We present a clinical case as an illustration of what is explained in this chapter, and last but not least, we present some conclusions and comments on some of the future expectations that we foresee for the coming years in oral rehabilitation with ZI.
