Nasal Osteotomies

The prominence of the dorsum and excessive width of the nose are common reasons for individuals seeking cosmetic surgery of the nose. To address these issues, osteotomies in the bony nasal structure are usually required. The upper third of the nose is composed of bone and overlaying soft tissues, which together with the upper lateral cartilages form a functional and esthetic unit. Nasal bones, upper lateral cartilages, and the septum in the keystone area create a cohesive structure, and any changes in the nasal bone structures will have different esthetic and functional outcomes by altering the keystone area of the nose (Irmak et al. 2020; Sajjadian and Moshrefi 2021). In the design and implementation of any surgical intervention in this area, special attention should be paid to its structure and function in order to avoid subsequent cosmetic and functional complications (Rohrich et al. 2004; Ishida et al. 1999).
