As the population is fast growing worldwide, the group of superaging society is faster concurrently. Henceforth, there is no doubt that dentistry will cater to a growing number of older patients in the near future. The treatment of the elderly patients requires some modifications in comparison to the treatment of young patients and each individual’s dental needs and treatment modalities differs. There are several implications that may arise as a result of this trend, including the fact that elderly patients may even require more efficient dental care tailored to their specific health needs. A patient’s personality and physical condition can also have an impact on the outcome of the treatment that they receive, so clinicians need to thoroughly understand not only the patient’s medical history but also their personality and physical state in order to provide the best care. The elderly patient typically has more complex medical conditions, and there may be physical limitations that need to be taken into consideration. Therefore, the clinician must also be aware of any potential side effects of the dental treatment, such as a decreased ability to heal and patient’s ability to posttreatment maintenance compliance.
