Combined Rhinoplasty and Genioplasty
摘要
Facial aesthetic form is a result of harmony and balance between all components of the face. Each structure must be considered both separately and in concert with others, in order to achieve symmetry and ideal proportions. One of the most determining relationships is the one among the nose and chin. As both of these structures have a paramount position in the face, they have a great impact on facial attractiveness. Most patients seek rhinoplasty to correct an over projected nose, while chin deformities are often overlooked. It is the surgeon’s duty to address all of the dysmorphologies responsible for facial aesthetic imbalance through meticulous preoperative evaluation. The necessity of performing simultaneous surgeries to improve facial beauty should be considered based on individual assessment. Since congruity between the nose and the chin is crucial to facial euphony, a combined rhinoplasty and genioplasty should be offered to the patient as an optimum approach. Facial profile harmony can be restored in one surgical session, well tolerated by the patient, resulting in less postoperative discomfort and overall cost.
