Conventional and Digital Prediction Tracing in Chin Surgery

This book chapter discusses the evolution and current applications of conventional and digital prediction tracing techniques in chin surgery. It explores the transition from historical genioplasty methods to modern, technologically enhanced procedures, emphasizing the role of Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP), Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technologies, and the use of custom-made titanium mini-plates. Also, the authors assess the advantages, such as improved surgical precision, reduced risks, and personalized patient care, against challenges like the steep learning curve and financial investments in technology. The discussion encompasses the impact of these advancements on patient outcomes, including safety, recovery time, and aesthetic results, while also considering the implications for surgical training and practice.
