Salivary Gland Lesions

Salivary gland pathologies present a diagnostic challenge due to their rare and diverse nature. The fifth edition of the World Health Organization’s classification system introduces 36 distinct salivary gland epithelial neoplasm types, including 21 malignant and 15 benign entities. The histological type of the salivary gland tumor is a critical determinant of its biological behavior, which can affect prognosis, recurrence patterns, and clinical management. Hence, this section discusses the classification, epidemiology, clinical presentation, and treatment modalities of salivary gland pathologies, divided into nonneoplastic lesions and benign and malignant neoplasms.
