Surgical Techniques for Accelerating Orthodontic Tooth Movement

This chapter provides a brief overview of techniques for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement. These methods are categorized into conservative and surgical groups. Conservative approaches include chemical substances like vitamin D or physical agents like pulsed electromagnetic fields. Surgical methods consist of different types of surgical designs that can shorten the whole treatment time; however, all of them are similar at the tissue level result and bone remodeling. In conclusion, both interventions have their profit and drawbacks, and they are assessed in this chapter in detail.
