Strategic Priorities for the Safe Development of Bioenergy in Ukraine: Barriers and Prospects

The article highlights the key issues of bioenergy development in Ukraine. The study found that the role of bioenergy is particularly important, as biomass and biofuels can replace traditional fuels and energy sources. For Ukraine, bioenergy is one of the strategic directions of development, given the country's high dependence on imported energy, primarily natural gas, as well as the great potential of biomass available for energy production. However, it should be noted that the pace of bioenergy development in Ukraine still lags significantly behind European ones. The paper analyzes biomass’s place in Ukraine’s energy balance. The potential of biomass for energy in Ukraine is assessed and analyzed. The main prospects for the development of the bioenergy sector of Ukraine are substantiated.
