Bilateral Exploration Parathyroidectomy
摘要
Despite improved localisation studies that have led to focused parathyroid surgery, there is still a role for bilateral neck exploration parathyroid surgery. This is required when multiple gland disease is highly probable either due to a genetic predisposition, the presence of known secondary or tertiary disease or when there is no clear localisation of the diseased gland or glands. The objective is the visualisation of all four parathyroid glands and removal of only those that are diseased.
