In StokesStokes flow or creepingCreeping flow, the viscous forces dominate the inertial forces. Since the Reynolds numberReynolds number is small, the basic equation for the stream functionStream function is the linear biharmonicBiharmonic equation. We shall exclude parallelParallel or concentric flows for which the inertial terms are identically zero due to geometry.
