The Benefits of Digital Transformation: A Case Study from Finance and Administrative Departments Within the Oil and Gas Industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain

This research aims to explore the benefits of digitally transforming the manual and paper-based processes in the finance and administrative departments within the oil and gas industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. There are many benefits examined in the literature across various industries and the most relevant to the oil and gas industry include: acquiring new skills, saving time, improved information security, boosting employee morale, and positively contributing to saving the environment. An online questionnaire based on the reviewed literature was developed and the link was distributed to employees in the financial and administrative departments (n = 252) within the oil and gas industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. After collecting and analyzing the data, the researchers found that there are strong positive correlations between digital transformation and acquiring new skills, saving time, improved information security, boosting employee morale. However, the findings were not conclusive on how much if any, a correlation exists between digital transformation and preserving the environment.
