The Unfulfilled Quest for Discovering Cause from Probability

We review the paper “Causal emergence is widespread across measures of causation” by Renzo Comolatti and Erik Hoel, which purports to derive (automatic) mathematical formula, which are not entirely probability based, to discover cause. We disagree with the paper’s central arguments, show where they are flawed, and argue that cause is much more difficult to discover than the authors suspect.
