Post-Truth Argumentation

  • Chrysi Rapanta

摘要

The post-truth turn and its negative impact on democratic deliberation has led to the emerging concept of post-truth argumentation. Checking the validity of disseminated news is not enough, calling for a critical pedagogy of defining trust and reliability. Argumentation is a possible path toward the development of criticality, as it allows the reconstruction of reasoning in context, necessary for understanding the socio-cultural (including political and economic) construction of knowledge. This entry defines post-truth argumentation, its nature, and challenges, considering the rapid expansion of fake news and alternative facts in the postdigital era.
