The contributions of nature-based solutions (NBS) to urban biodiversity enrichment are evaluated in this study. The concept of nature-based solutions is presented and introduced, as well as nature-based solutions initiatives that have been undertaken on a global scale, in order to investigate the relationship between urban biodiversity and NBS. This work is mostly a qualitative study based on a literature review and desk research, with the goal of addressing the theoretical and practical aspects of NBS in terms of biodiversity enrichment. Only 33 of the 2500 initiatives that addressed NBS contained goals connected to biodiversity, according to the findings in this chapter. This underscores the fact that urban NBS programs are not primarily implemented with the aim of improving urban biodiversity, rather they mainly address other challenges related to community health, climate change, connectivity, and water. As a result, biodiversity remains a secondary concept in the majority of NBS programs. However, it is also necessary to analyze the general population’s comprehension and acceptance of NBS. It is advised that citizens be involved in the decision-making process and that they be kept informed on the progress and impacts of NBS on biodiversity. This inclusivity may boost NBS’s acceptance, resulting in the project’s success.
