As the world population races toward nine billion people, there is a corresponding increase in the challenges of food security because of climate change, especially in the global south. Nature-based intervention seeds involve consciously induced actions geared toward the significant management and restoration of the ecosystem while addressing climate change-, health-, food-, and water-related challenges in the global south. The effects of climate change on the socioeconomic, political, nutritional, and environmental well-being in the tropical regions of sub-Saharan Africa have promulgated in the last three decades with the rising trend of population, urbanization, and food demand crisis. Galvanizing interventions to combat the effect of climate change in the global south requires a better understanding and management of possible nature-based intervention seeds that are pertinent to climate change adaptation in Africa. Some of these seeds include soil management, insects, biodiversity conservation, conflict management, afforestation, agroforestry, etc. Nature-based intervention seeds play a vital role in climate change adaptation and establishment of resilience in communities and landscapes. Nature-based seeds are also economic-based effective ways of addressing climate change and other threats to sustainable development. This chapter will focus on discussing the need for climate adaptation in the global south, the prevalent challenges, and the possible nature-based seeds to proffer solutions to these challenges for better climate adaptation and food security, with case studies in selected countries in the global south. This chapter will bridge the gap in knowledge by contributing significantly to the crucial debate on the pertinent need to embrace more climate adaptation practices in the global south for efficient food security and climate change management. Exploring nature-based interventions in the global south will present an efficient environmentally friendly measure for ameliorating climate change and food security issues in the tropics. The chapter will be divided into subsections, where each intervention seed is discussed using case studies in selected countries in Africa. This will advance our knowledge and actions on efficient modalities for food, socioeconomic, and environmental sustainability in the face of climate change especially in sub-Saharan Africa.

摘要
