Thermal Management of Electric Power Unit Using Phase Change Cooling Materials: Review, Classification, and Comparison

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are the latest transportation discoveries. Though EVs are very reliable there are a few factors that decrease their efficiency one of which is excess heat generation in the battery pack. Because of this, the thermal management system of batteries, have become crucial in electric vehicles to manage the heat produced by the battery and to increase the efficiency and performance for the vehicle. Battery thermal management can be done using different cooling methods which will be discussed further in the paper. In this review work, several Phase Change Materials used in earlier literature have been classified, compared, and studied.
