Range Sensors

Reflective optical techniques are popular for 3D shape acquisition because they are non-contact, fast, and cost-effective. Active optical techniques involve controlling the illumination of the scene, while passive techniques do not. Active techniques are reified as range sensors, which return the range of visible points in the scene.
