The cancer charitable sector is diverse with a range of charities of differing sizes and focus, quite reliant on donors for much of their income. During the COVID-19 pandemic, charities were at the sharp end with increasing demand on their services whilst simultaneously needing to shift many services online, without preparation, and hampered by the loss of fundraising events and means. The charitable sector can also be characterised by its financial vulnerability, due to reliance on donations, and the pandemic placed enormous pressure on the financial stability of the sector’s fundraising. This chapter will explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the charitable sector as well as resilience and recovery 2 years on.
