ICWES-VII, Washington, DC, USA, June 17–24, 1984
摘要
This chapter concerns ICWES-VII, held June 17–24, 1984, in Washington, DC, in the USA. The main theme of the conference was “Technology – An International Bridge.” The event was organized by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), as for ICWES-I, and was combined with its National and Student Conferences. Naomi McAfee, Suzanne Jenniches, and Pat Patterson acted as conference chairs. Attended by a great majority of American participants, this event also featured many workshops for professional development (from career guidance to skincare) and industry booths for the recruitment of women. In accordance with technological progress in the early 1980s, session topics were especially concerned with computer technology development and engineering. Delegates at the Business Meeting approved “Guidelines” for future conferences, building on previous protocols adopted in Rouen (1978) and Bombay (1981). Testimonials were also included in this chapter.
