摘要

This chapter concerns ICWES-V, held in Rouen, France, in September 1978. This event was organized by the Cercle Français des Femmes Ingénieurs and the Association Française des Femmes Diplômées des Universités (AFFDU). The main theme of the conference was “Technology and Freedom.” Speakers were especially interested in the use and impact, good or bad, of new technologies. One particular consideration of this conference was the responsibility owed by engineers and scientists to their profession and to the general public. Both the conference chair, Nicole Bécarud, and the invited speaker, Jacqueline Nonon, emphasized the need for solidarity among women engineers and scientists in order to advance women’s condition all around the world. Matters addressed by the delegates at the Business Meeting were reviewing the guidelines for organizing the conferences and deciding on how to appoint the Continuity Committee (ICC) members. Testimonials were included in this chapter.
