Development of CIWES-ICFIS

In this chapter, the authors discuss the creation of a Canadian charity corporation which originally was meant to be part of INWES. But due to charity laws in Canada, it had to remain an independent body with arms-length connection to INWES. The INWES Education and Research Institute (INWES-ERI) became CIWES-ICFIS (Canadian Institute for Women in Engineering and Science—Institut canadien pour les femmes en ingénierie et en sciences) in 2019. The chapter presents a description of workshops held by the Institute and the main project it developed, the Archives of women in STEM in Canada.
