摘要

This Line pipe Steel chapter covers many aspects of line pipe steels, such as the development history, production, thermomechanical processing, physical metallurgy, specifications, and weldability. All topics are divided into sub-chapters. The Introduction and the Development History sub-chapters are a short historical review of the early developments up to the present time. Different steel-producing techniques are analyzed, discussed, and compared in the Metallurgical Aspects of the Processing of the Line pipe Steels sub-chapter. Those techniques include traditional plate and strip rolling as well as the earlier thin slab casting direct rolling route. Physical metallurgy aspects of hot rolling are also covered. The Line Pipe Specification sub-chapter covers the specifications and other aspects such as fracture and sour service. Finally, the Weldability subchapter covers welding aspects of line pipe steels, including different techniques, weldability tests, and the most common issues experienced during pipe production and pipeline installation.
