Anesthetic Management in Nasal Polypectomy
摘要
Nasal polypectomy surgery requires a careful and cautious perioperative management, especially due to its association with Samter’s triad. A detailed preoperative evaluation, if necessary, pulmonary optimization and avoiding stimuli that will trigger bronchoconstriction are highlights of perioperative management of asthma. The surgical team should be aware of aspirin intolerance and the risk of cross-reaction with many of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while planning perioperative pain control. Controlled hypotension, total intravenous anesthesia, and other methods to improve surgical field quality are also critical to minimize complications and increase surgical success during endoscopic sinus surgery.
