Robotic Splenic Flexure and Segmental Transverse Resections

The minimally invasive approach for segmental resections of the transverse colon and splenic flexure is widely accepted. However, these segmental colorectal resections remain demanding in terms of lymph node dissections, vascular dissection and intracorporeal anastomosis. The robotic approach seems to offer some advantage in terms of harvested lymph nodes and intracorporeal anastomosis. Herein we present our surgical technique for segmental resections of the transverse colon and splenic flexure.
