Continuing Medical Education in Geriatric Medicine
摘要
To optimally train a workforce of clinicians caring for the growing older adult population, high quality continuing medical education (CME) programs are critical. In this chapter, we review core educational principles related to developing and implementing high quality CME programming and highlight particular challenges associated with CME programs in geriatric medicine. We present themes that emerge from a review of the literature specific to CME in geriatric medicine, including the use of educational modalities such as “train the trainer” models, intensive workshop-type courses, longitudinal courses, and interprofessional training. This chapter will guide educators seeking to develop or enhance CME programming for geriatric medicine providers by offering evidence for successful development and implementation.
