摘要

The world’s population landscape is changing, and estimates suggest that by 2030, 1 in 6 people will be aged 60 or older, however, an ever-present shortage of geriatricians and geriatrics trainees remains. These changes and challenges in the population landscape and workforce serve as a call to action for geriatrics educators to adopt an innovative approach, ensuring that the next generation of geriatricians is equipped with tools to become an elite workforce of researchers, educators, leaders, and disruptors, empowering non-geriatricians to become skilled in the use and implementation of geriatric principles when caring for older adults. In this chapter we present a road map for faculty working with geriatric fellows, highlighting key challenges and illuminating opportunities educators routinely encounter.
