Kabi-Kabi Genre in Art and Education Pedagogy

The First Nation’s perspective of a universal Dreaming permeates all aspects of living, within every aspect of life, and in work and play within structured or non-structured program design, disciplines, practices, and methodologies of life and living. My application of one’s Dreaming is that in doing so, there are no boundaries except those that are personally applied or that just happen providing some parameters/guidelines of behaviour to contemplate how to live within a contemporary world that values the essence of culture: Aboriginality. They were not designed as rigid rules of measurement to determine whether or not there was a ‘black and white’ meaning of right and wrong. Therefore, focus is on specific pieces of art created, when drawing on my Aboriginality, my Belongingness, and my Dreaming. It presents a way of making sense of these philosophies and of grounding them in pedagogical practice crucial to one’s life, one’s culture, and one’s sense of place. The following storylines in art are to be read in context with the histories explored in previous chapters and the reflections of people and places introduced there. This philosophical foundation embedded in teaching and learning through arts and education has been argued in this way as an Aboriginal epistemology of Belongingness.
