Carbon Nanostructure Functionalization for Electromagnetic Shielding Applications
摘要
Rapid advances in the field of electronics and communications have led to a widespread integration of electronic devices and communication systems across various sectors, including military, aerospace, industrial, and consumer applications. An inadvertent outcome of this advancement is the creation of electromagnetic pollution, commonly referred to as electromagnetic interference (EMI). This interference may cause malfunctioning of equipment, including lowering the efficiency, result in data loss, disrupt communication networks, have adverse environmental impact, and also cause harmful biological effects. Therefore, lately, considerable research efforts have been dedicated toward designing and developing novel, lightweight, and efficient EMI shielding materials. This chapter investigates the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding capabilities of different nanostructures based on carbon. It underscores the unique properties of functionalized carbon nanostructures obtained by modifying their structure, composition, and surface to enhance their performance for EM absorption and EMI shielding applications. Additionally, we present a conclusion and prospective insights concerning the use of carbon-based nanostructures for enhanced EMI shielding.
