摘要

Metal-based depositions onto carbon nanostructures are of promising interest and have garnered boundless interest due to their excellent mechanical, physical, and chemical properties. In this chapter, the depositions of metals onto carbon nanostructures by different techniques are comprehensively reviewed. Carbon nanostructures such as carbon quantum dots (CQDs), carbon nanotube (CNT), graphene, graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (r-GO), and nanodiamond (ND)Nanodiamond (ND) are of particular interest in this study. The growth, morphology, and surface characterization of these carbon nanostructures prepared by different strategies are discussed here. The deposition of metal on carbon nanostructures makes them a hybrid material for application in various fields including electronics, catalysis, structural reinforcements, energy storage, and conversion devices and biomedical fields. This chapter also emphasis on the functionalization and plasma surface modification of various nanostructures which increase the reactive functional groups in the hybrid composite. Moreover, the green chemistry approach of synthesizing various nanostructures and their applications have also been emphasized. Finally, the advantages and applications of these metal deposited nanostructures will be highlighted to emphasize the current challenges and future trends in industrial applications.
