Blockchain for Health Data Management

This chapter presents a blockchain-based solution to build an e-health data management based on a hybrid edge cloud system. The proposed system enables the provision of real-time health service and provides secure user access to clouds, with privacy and security guarantees. Two smart contracts are designed to provide efficient health data storage and trustworthy data exchange among patients and healthcare providers. A case study is presented using an Ethereum blockchain platform with cloud computing to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed e-health system in terms of data sharing efficiency, system security, and latency.
