摘要
This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the food and nutrition security situation in South Africa. It utilizes data from surveillance systems, national surveys conducted over the past 20 years, and sentinel studies to map the current landscape. Key themes include an analysis of the state of food and nutrition security, the country’s food system approach, and methods of food access for the population. The chapter also discusses social factors, health inequalities, challenges, and barriers, and potential solutions to reduce hunger and food insecurity. Ultimately, it seeks to achieve the targets of the South African National Development Plan and sustainable development goals 2 on zero hunger and 3 on good health and well-being.
