This chapter explains the concept of a food supply chain comprising the processes of food production, storage, transportation, and retailing to deliver food to the end consumers within the specified timeframe. The food supply chain encounters various challenges that can impact its effectiveness, sustainability, and capacity to fulfil the global need for food. This study also elucidates certain developments and trends within the contemporary field of food supply chain and the revolution pertaining to Agriculture 4.0 and its importance in agro-food supply chain development. Besides, it discusses some of the challenges and issues influencing the food supply chain and provides recommendations to ensure a sustainable future food supply chain.
