Food Sources of Protein to Overcome Malnutrition and Infectious Diseases: Indonesian Aspects
摘要
Indonesia has vast animal protein sources, such as fish, red meat, poultry, and plant protein sources. Public consumption of marine and fresh fish is still low. Public consumption of red meat is also low because it is relatively expensive compared to poultry and poultry eggs. The availability of poultry eggs in many districts/cities in Indonesia is insufficient to meet the community’s needs. This is one of the reasons why malnutrition and infectious diseases are still high in Indonesia compared to other developed countries. One of the fish with an excellent protein content is eel, a deep-sea fish and a freshwater fish. The Indonesian government is expected to encourage communities and underprivileged households to engage in fish farming and poultry rearing to improve access and availability. It is also taking steps to ensure that food sold in traditional markets, supermarkets, and shopping centers has a good protein content.
