Research has identified vitamin D exhibits innate protection against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Furthermore, suboptimal serum vitamin D [25(OH)D] status is linked with the incidence of active tuberculosis (TB). Vitamin D is a potential adjuvant in the prevention and treatment of TB due to its multitude of roles. This chapter discussed how vitamin D supplementation is important in the prevention and control of TB, along with its challenges. Additionally, the chapter outlines some of the open research questions pertaining to vitamin D in TB.
