The performance of the Hippo signaling pathway in neuronal cells can be affected by dementia processes in the brain. The mechanisms activate the Hippo pathway and impair the activity of YAP/TAZ-TEAD interaction, disrupting the maintenance of cell survival. This disruption can lead to accelerated neuronal inflammation, aging, degeneration, and death, resulting in cognitive impairment and dementia. Therefore, the Hippo pathway, especially YAP/TAZ as the main effector, is crucial to be investigated because it is closely related to the progression of dementia. It is important to acknowledge the relationship in order to explore the severity or treatment targets for neurodegeneration in dementia.
