Chara zeylanica

This chapter gives an overview about the current state of knowledge regarding Chara zeylanica, a charophyte species identified for the first time in Europe. It contains a full morphological description including identification hints and remarks on the potential risks of confusion, taking into account results of phylogenetic analyses. It also provides information on the ecological demands, phenology and on the distribution of the species in Europe. In addition, potential threats to this taxon are discussed and proposals for management and conservation are presented.
