Checklist of European Charophytes
摘要
We recognise 66 European species of Characeae. This is substantially more than the 50 corresponding taxa covered by (Krause in Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 18. Fischer, Jena [in German], 1997) in his treatment for Central Europe, an increase of 32%. The increase is mostly due to the expansion of the covered area. Ten taxa occurring in the southern, southeastern or northern part of Europe were not in Krause’s geographical focus: Chara altaicaChara altaica, C. corfuensis, C. globata, C. hellenica (described in 2010), C. oedophylla. C. oryzae (described in 2021), C. uzbekistanica, C. zeylanica (first European record in 2019), Nitella palhinae and N. wahlbergianaNitella wahlbergiana. The description of Lamprothamnium sardoumLamprothamnium sardoum has been published in 2022. This is a checklist with brief explanation of the main changes in taxonomy applied, giving the reader an overview about the taxa dealt with.
