Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis
摘要
Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE) is one of the most common hip disorders in adolescents. Typical presentation is a preadolescent and obese male with groin pain and limping. Endocrine disorders such as hypo or hyperthyroidism are commonly associated with SCFE. Diagnosis is usually made by anteroposterior radiographs. Fixing the epiphysis with screws is the treatment of choice in low-grade slips, while high-grade slips sometimes require open capital realignment. Prophylactic fixation in contralateral hip may have some benefits in selected patients. Misdiagnosed patients can lead to osteonecrosis or femoroacetabular impingement that can derive in hip osteoarthritis at a young age.
