Diaphyseal and Articular Bone Loss
摘要
Diaphyseal and articular bone loss probably poses one of the greatest challenges in terms of limb reconstruction, and treatments that have historically ranged from amputation to reconstruction with different techniques. The key to the correct treatment requires adequate soft tissue coverage, controlled infection, and vital remaining bone. There is no universally accepted classification due to the diversity of scenarios in relation to the injury. Bone transportation, joint replacement, induced membrane technique, allografts, and articular fusion are some of the different techniques to restore the defects; sometimes, more than one of these techniques are required to achieve limb salvage.
