Open Fractures
摘要
Open fractures require staged, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary medical management. Each of these injuries must be treated following an appropriate diagnosis and treatment protocol. Initial evaluation, referral to a specialized center, and early administration of antibiotic prophylaxis are some of the actions that can improve the final result in each case. It is important to understand that open fractures are complex injuries. The medical team must be aware of and rule out concomitant injuries, such as compartment syndrome or vascular compromise. Surgical debridement should be performed by orthopedic and plastic surgeons with the ability to provide soft tissue coverage, if necessary, in order to achieve a clean wound where to place the internal fixation with a lower risk of complications.
