Thumb Reconstruction

Thumb reconstruction after traumatic amputation, tumor resection, or even congenital deformities has been developed by many techniques. “Classical” techniques remain fundamental to know, whether it is the osteoplastic reconstruction renewed by antebrachial flap or the pollicization as in its original description or mainly of finger stumps. Microsurgery has enlarged the therapeutic arsenal through toe transfers, which have also gradually evolved to improve esthetic results in the hand and reduce the functional and esthetic cost at the donor site.
