Lumbar Facet Cyst

Synovial cyst consists of a herniation of synovium through the facet joint capsule, usually observed at the L4–L5 and L3–L4 lumbar levels. This condition can cause radicular pain and low back pain. MRI is the gold standard for diagnosis. Conservative treatment can be considered in patients without neurological compromise. Surgical treatment is indicated after failure of conservative treatment and involves decompression or decompression plus fusion surgery.
